The French cultural center in Beijing is hosting a French film festival from March 3 to 30 at its headquarters in Gongti Xilu.

Films that will be seen at the festival are not only ones made in France but those made in various countries in which French is spoken. There are 20 feature films and 10 short films in genres including cartoons, comedies, musicals and dramas.

The festival aims to create an opportunity for the audience to taste the different flavors of film cultures in French-speaking countries.

Filmmakers from Belgium, Tunisia and Senegal will attend press conferences to introduce their films and meet their audiences and they will take part in a series of film workshops in many schools in Beijing.

“The festival is a fantastic bridge between Chinese culture and other cultures,” said Guo Yanling, a French teacher at Beijing Jiaotong University, who has attended cultural activities at the French cultural center for many years.

“The idea of employing films to promote cultures is fashionable and efficient, which will definitely attract many film lovers and French fans.”
